Across U-hub: Youth Leadership Development Certificate Program
Hosts “Let’s Ride Over the Financial Tsunami” Forum
(April 8, 2009 - Toronto) With the Financial Tsunami sending
global economies into recession, economic conditions are exhibiting increased
volatility and vulnerability. There have been mass media accounts of
corporate and national strategies to reverse this economic
downturn. However, aside from capital loss, what are some of the
other consequences of the Financial Tsunami? Are there any immediate effects affecting our
youths’ personal lives? From where can our
youths understand the whole picture? Can
they fully understand, realize and learn from what our society is facing
today? Can they grow to be actively
engaged citizens charged with passion to rebuild and reshape our community?
In response, Across U-hub's Youth Leadership Development Certificate Program, YLD, is hosting a forum titled “Let’s Ride Over the Financial Tsunami” on Saturday, April 25th, 2009, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm at Across U-hub. YLD is honoured to present Professor Eric Fong, Department of Sociology of University of Toronto, Dr. Thomas Li, Clinical & Forensic Psychologist, Dr. Terence Yuen, Senior Economist and Ms. Nicole Wong, Executive Director of Across U-hub, as the speakers of this forum.
With
perspectives spanning multiple fields such as sociology, economics, and
psychology, this
forum helps youths to understand the causes of the Financial
Tsunami and its consequences. More importantly, it awakens our youths'
responsibility and care towards their community; to help them realize that
adversity is not a curse, and favorable circumstances may not always end up to
be blessings. If youths are willing to face difficulties and challenges,
adversity can become a driving force on their path of success.
Admission is free; people aged 16 and over are welcome to join. For registration and more information, please call: 905-944-1944 or email timyuen@acrossuhub.com. For further information please visit: www.acrossuhub.com.
