Across U-hub is a charitable community
organization, based on Christian faith, dedicated to
serve Canadian youth, especially those of Chinese
descent. We recognize the importance of fostering
in our youth a clear sense of identity and leadership
qualities. Our programs - through cultural media,
mentoring guidance, peer support system, and
group activities - offer inter-disciplinary training
to our young members with the intent to build up
their creative capacity, discernment ability, and
communication skills. These programs are also
designed to facilitate their integration into our
multicultural society and to nurture their personal
holistic growth socially, emotionally and spiritually.
In addition to the daily challenges a young people normally encounters, many Chinese Canadian youth also face the challenge of how to adapt to the multicultural environment as well as the conflicting expectations from home, school and the broader community. Across U-hub is sensitive to the unique needs of these Chinese Canadian youth. We cultivate a peer support system so that youth with similar experiences can connect with each other to share their stories and struggles.
Across U-hub also offers mentorship. Our mentors guide and involve the youth in planning and coordinating different programs and events. In the process, we help the participants to actualize their potentials. Our goal is to empower these youth and to equip them with appropriate skills to realize their dreams.
Across U-hub also believes in equity of access to our services for all young people regardless of family background. That is why, most of our programs are either at nominal fees or free of charge. In some cases, fees are either further reduced or waived confidentially for individuals who have financial difficulties.
Across U-hub sees youth as an important long-term investment in the future of our city. For the past 10 years or so, we have gathered rich and varied experiences to make long-term commitment to nurture our youth. It takes all of us to work together to prepare them to actively contribute to their communities with a strong sense of mission, vision, and passion.
