Youth Leadership Development Certificate Program - Photography Series 2010 >> Explore Your Leadership Potential, Visualize Your Creative Talent
Fosters the development of a youth community where critical thinking is encouraged and leadership potential is realized. This certificate course program focuses on four major areas:
self-development, mentoring skill, outdoor challenges and multi-media, where both the conceptual and practical aspects of these areas are explored.
The objective of the photography series is to cultivate participants’ independent thinking skills. Discernment is one of the qualities of servant leadership; therefore,
enhancing one’s discernment skills can strengthen his/her personal character and value.
Through analyzing the messages delivered by the media, and understanding the impact of media on society, participants will be able to see how media influences their daily lives and shape their perspectives. Participants will be asked to share their thoughts through group discussions and through the creation of a photo journal. With photography being one of the most successful and common media among youth, how should we perceive what is on printed and e-newspaper? This series will allow us to understand the background story and production of what being reported. Furthermore, this series aims to increase the participants’ awareness of their surroundings through the use of photography.
Participants will be asked to share their thoughts through group discussions and through the creation of a photo journal.
