About Youth Leadership Development Certificate Course

The program on “Youth Leadership Development” is an innovative approach to provide leadership training to Canadian youths. It is tailored to their needs and to expand their horizons in life development knowledge, skills, and experiences. It also intends to foster the development of a youth community where critical inquiry is encouraged and leadership potentials are realized. The program offers a variety of courses on, but not limited to, self-development, mentoring skills, outdoor challenges, and multimedia. These courses will explore the conceptual and practical aspects on the subjects.

YLD Certificate

There are three levels of certificates in this Youth Leadership Development program. Students enrolled in each level will receive a certificate upon successfully completion of a series of courses. Each level is designed to be completed in one year.

Level 1:
The first level consists of 4 courses to be selected from the core courses and electives:
       2 core courses (Principles of Leadership, and Self-development)
       2 elective course from two of the three specializations (Skill Development, Outdoor Challenges and Multimedia Development)

Level 2:
The second level will be awarded when an additional 3 courses are completed successfully.
       1 core courses (Biblical Worldview and Life Span Development)
       2 elective courses selected from one of the specializations (Skill Development, Outdoor Challenges and Multimedia Development)

Level 3:
The third level includes a course in completing a project/practicum

Auditing of any courses is welcomed but priority will be given to registered students. Courses are usually offered in the evenings or during the weekends.

Application
Application is open to all. Applicants must submit a statement of intent (at least 500 words in Chinese or 800 words in English) and the application form before. Application materials can be obtained from Across U-hub. Given the short notice, courses completed prior to the acceptance will be counted toward the completion of the program.

Application Fee: $10.00
