Tomorrow Starts Today - The Green Alternatives

With large conglomerate stores popping up across the city, it is often convenient to go to these The Green Alternative - 1stores and pick up whatever they offer without much putting in too much thinking.  But a lot of times, products travel miles or even thousands of miles to get from the place where they were made to your local mega store.  Ever thought about buying local products?  Or how about the debate over eating organic?  Is it better for your health?  And of the many times that you wander within Toronto, have you ever questioned the environmental consideration of the city’s development?

In response to these questions, Across U-hub hosted a program this past Saturday, under their environmental campaign .  This is the 3rd program under their campaign, titled .  The program addressed some of the questions that many people have when it comes to living a more environmental-friendly lifestyle by showcasing some of the greener alternatives that are conveniently available in the Great Toronto Area.  Because several of these questions can be answered just by immersing in the city and asking the right questions, brought a group of participants out to the city to explore the many green alternative stores, organic grocers, shops that sell local product and retailers that promote environmental consciousness.  Participants formed groups and headed out to St. The Green Alternative - 2Lawrence Market, the Annex and the waterfront, asking shopkeepers about their environmental queries and scouring out places which inspired them to go green.  At each of the locations, participants were able to discover its points of uniqueness as well, they were able to dig deeper into the greener choices that each place offers; choices such as eating local, shopping organic, using alternate forms of transportations, and more.  Through this experience, participants were able to see a greener side of Toronto while gaining a hands-on understanding of the friendlier options that they can choose from.
